Stuart has been playing pipes for over 15 years, and was primarily taught by Adrian Melvin of Victoria Police Pipe Band, Grade 1 World Champions 1998. Stuart competes at solo competition grade 3 level in bagpiping light music and in piobaireachd, the classical music of the great highland bagpipe.
Stuart successfully taught numbers of junior and adult students how to play pipes as Pipe Major of the Tunes of Glory Pipe Band near Chicago, and took many students from lesson #1 to becoming full playing members of the band.
Stuart co-founded and was Pipe Major of the Glenshinnoch Pipe Band in Naperville, IL, which competed in grade 4 competition. He has also played with the Grade 3 bands Fountain Trust in Indiana and Chicago Celtic, and recently with Iowa band Turlach Ur.
Stuart is also very active with the Midwest Pipe Band Association (MWPBA), having previously served on the Board as Secretary-Treasurer and website architect, and currently as website administrator.
Sorry, but Stuart is currently unable to accept requests for solo performances.
